Under the auspices of the Deanship of the College of Science, the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics and Computer Applications and the Iraqi Women's League, held a workshop entitled
Disaster Management and Economic Crises
delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Aida Fawzi Ahmed, a teacher at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences / Department of Agricultural Economics. The workshop dealt with one of the important topics related to economic stability, the standard and living of community members, as well as the ability of institutions to sustain. As the Iraqi economy is strongly affected by external crises and shocks associated with international oil prices, as well as affected by the rest of the prices, what affects the global economy can affect our economy through external dealing, as natural disasters such as earthquakes or floods cause economic losses along with other factors such as wars, conflicts or the spread of epidemics.
This requires concerted efforts by the government, state institutions and individuals and the development of long-term strategies to mitigate these disasters and reduce their negative effects in order to achieve stability and sustainability, and that the university has a major role in performing this task and supporting society.
