The College of Science at Al-Nahrain University discussed the master's thesis titled
"Adsorption of Metal Ions in Aqueous Media Using Acrylic-Based Hydrogel,"
by the student Hadeel Safaa Naama from the Department of Chemistry. The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the hydrogel made from acrylic polymers in removing metal ions from aqueous solutions by studying the adsorption mechanisms and the impact of various environmental factors such as pH, temperature, and metal concentration. The study included the design and preparation of the hydrogel and testing its efficiency under multiple conditions, where the results showed a high capacity of the hydrogel to remove heavy metals, contributing to the development of water treatment technologies and reducing pollutants. Data were also analyzed using isotherm models to understand the adsorption mechanisms. The study emphasized the importance of research in improving water quality and addressing environmental pollution.
